The Dakar Rally will open today in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and run until the January 15.

Bahraini motorcycle racer Salman Mohammed will take part in the Dakar Rally and will be at the start line among other competitors in different motor categories. He became the first Bahraini motorcycle racer to take part in the famed Dakar Rally which was held in Saudi in 2019.

The Ministry of Sports is organizing the global event for the second consecutive year in Saudi Arabia, in coordination with the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation.

The first stage of the world’s most famous desert rally will be flagged off in the city of Jeddah on the Red Sea, as racers tackle the 622 km route of tracks and valleys that lead to the city of Bisha.

Competitors in the motorcycle, lightweight vehicles, trucks, SSV, or car categories, taking part in the 646-kilometre race, will cross 10 Saudi citizens during the 12-phase adventure, interrupted by only one day of rest on January 9 in Hail

The classic cars category will debut in the 2021 edition, which includes the cars that participated in the Dakar Rally before 2000, and they are still in good condition.
