Bottas tops day two F1 test times at Bahrain International Circuit

Valtteri Bottas found himself in a familiar position last night, sitting atop a timesheet as Formula 1 Aramco Pre-season Testing 2021 wrapped up its second day at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir.
The Mercedes ace overcame some issues with the world champions’ W12 car to steer their 2021 contender to the fastest lap time of one minute 30.289 seconds during the day’s afternoon runs, which ended under the lights.
Daniel Ricciardo was fastest during the morning session with a best lap of 1:32.215 in his McLaren MCL35M.
The top flight’s teams and drivers continued to determine the level of their newest challengers ahead of the start of the 2021 FIA F1 World Championship, which flags off in a couple of weeks with the F1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix March 26 to 28. Tickets to the race weekend are now available for all vaccinated or COVID-19 recovered individuals.

The F1 field heads for one final day of testing today.
The action begins at 10 am and continues until 2 pm.
Following an hour-long break, running will be held from 3 pm to 7 pm.
Bottas completed 58 laps overall yesterday, and he was able to register his fastest time in the final 20 minutes of testing.
Pierre Gasly of AlphaTauri followed with a 1:30.413 mark in his AT02 car while registering 87 laps.
Lance Stroll had the best time of 1:30.460 for third on the times, behind the wheel of his Aston Martin AMR21 and running for 71 laps. Lando Norris had led briefly as the afternoon session began its final hour.
His time of 1:30.586 was eventually fourth-best for the day, while Antonio Giovinazzi of Alfa Romeo was fifth with a lap of 1:30.760.
Rounding out the top eight were Charles Leclerc of Ferrari with the fastest lap of 1:30.886, Nicholas Latifi of Williams at 1:31.672 and Sergio Perez of Red Bull Racing at 1:31.682.
The rest of the 16-driver classification featured Ricciardo’s morning best in ninth, while 10th through 16th, respectively, were Fernando Alonso (1:32.339) making his return to F1 for Alpine, Yuki Tsunoda (1:32.684) for AlphaTauri, Mick Schumacher (1:32.883) of Haas, Carlos Sainz (1:33.072) for Ferrari, Nikita Mazepin (1:33.101) in the second Haas, Lewis Hamilton (1:33.399) for Mercedes and Sebastian Vettel (1:38.849) for Aston Martin.
This year’s F1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix will be the first of a record 23 rounds.
Aside from the racing, fans can look forward to a wide array of fun activities at BIC’s F1 Village vending area, including a selection of wild outdoor rides and other attractions.
Comprehensive measures will be put in place at the circuit to ensure spectators can enjoy the excitement of F1 in a safe environment.
