The highly anticipated title match in this year’s Crown Prince’s Cup volleyball tournament has been rescheduled to Monday, the Bahrain Volleyball Association (BVA) announced yesterday. The tie is set to be played between reigning Cup holders Dar Kulaib and challengers Muharraq.
It was originally slated for Sunday. The game will be held at the BVA arena at Isa Sports City in Riffa.
Muharraq advanced to the championship-decider after defeating Al Najma in a four-set affair, while Dar Kulaib scraped through following a five-set thriller against Isa bin Rashid Bahrain First Division Volleyball League champions Al Ahli. Both sides will be out to claim their only titles of the 2020/2021 national season.
They were part of the final four of the league. Muharraq then lost to Ahli in the finals while Dar Kulaib had to settle for third. They had previously bowed to Ahli in semis.
Muharraq are set to rely heavily on their top talents including Cameroon professional Yvan Arthur Kody Bitjaa, and Bahraini players Fadhel Abbas, Mahmood Al Afia, Hussain Haikki, Ali Khairallah, Bader Mohammed and Mohammed Habib.
For Dar Kulaib, they will be looking to Slovakian professional Martin Pavleka to spearhead their cause. They also hope to get key contributions from Bahrainis Ali Ebrahim, Mahmood Hassan, Ayman Isa, Hassan Abbas, Mahmood Abdulwahid and Hussain Abdulla. Dar Kulaib won last year’s Crown Prince’s Cup after defeating Najma in the final, and will be looking for a repeat success.
