Max Verstappen shone brightest under the lights at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) last night as he captured pole position for today’s Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2021.

The  Red Bull Racing ace continued his dominant start to the 2021 FIA Formula 1 World Championship by topping the Qualifying timesheet. He had also previously set the pace in all three Practice sessions of the weekend.

Verstappen claimed his fourth career pole with his best lap time of one minute 28.997 seconds. “The car has been working really well and it has been enjoyable to drive,” said the Dutchman.

“It all worked out perfectly in qualifying and of course I am very happy with pole position.” He managed to prevent a Mercedes front row lockout, as Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas were classified in second and third, respectively. Today’s 57-lap F1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix is scheduled to flag off at 6pm at BIC. Gates open at 11am to all ticket holders.
