Saar win Amateur Football League title

Saar Club were crowned champions of the first-ever edition of the BFA Amateur Football League (AFL). The competition was organised and run by the Bahrain Football Association (BFA), as per the directives of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first vice-chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

Saar captured the title after defeating Muharraq Legends 2-0 in the tournament final, which was held on Wednesday evening.

After the game, BFA vice-president for administrative and financial affairs Ali Al Buainain presented the two finalists their awards, on behalf of BFA president Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa. BFA secretary-general Ebrahim Al Buainain was also on hand.

Accepting the champions’ shield on behalf of Saar Club were president Abbas Abdulwahab and team captain Aqeel Barakat.

The clubs that competed in the AFL included those that are not existing BFA members, youth centres, ministries and government agencies, companies and institutions, academies, communities or individuals.

The AFL offers an opportunity for all segments of society to integrate and interact through an official football tournament that promotes participation in the game.
