Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) Chief Operating Officer Fayez Ramzy Fayez has been appointed by the International Automobile Federation (FIA) as the Deputy Race Director of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) 2021.
Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) Chief Operating Officer Fayez Ramzy Fayez has been appointed by the International Automobile Federation (FIA) as the Deputy Race Director of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) 2021.
Fayez was in Belgium over this past weekend performing his role in the opening round of this year’s WEC season at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, which is scheduled to take place Sunday, May 1.
The Deputy Race Director works under the FIA Championship Race director, as appointed by the FIA.
They are its representatives that attend all the championship rounds and whose authority is to control practice, qualifying and the race itself.
They work closely with the Clerk of the Course and the Stewards. The Race Director and his Deputy’s general duties are ensuring the safe and fair running of the championship races within the prescribed regulations.
Fayez’s new role is a testament to Bahrain’s rich motorsport culture and Bahraini expertise in the sport, as well as the trust the international motor racing community has in Bahraini talents. His appointment adds to the many titles he currently holds as one of the leading motorsport officials in the region. In addition to currently being on the Bahrain Motor Federation Board, Fayez is also the Motorsports Marshals Club President.
Furthermore, he has been a member of the FIA Circuit Commission since 2010, is an FIA Gold Track Inspector, and has been the Clerk of the Course for the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahr
