Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first vice-chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa attended the match between Riffa and Malkiya on Saturday night at the National Stadium in Riffa on the final night of the 2020/2021 Nasser bin Hamad Bahrain Premier League. The game was one of four ties scheduled for that evening, and Riffa won 2-1 to end their title-winning season in style.

Following the game, HH Shaikh Khalid crowned Riffa as league champions in a glittering awarding ceremony attended by club officials.

Bahrain Football Association (BFA) president Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and BFA vice-president for technical affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Salman Al Khalifa. Riffa finished in first place on the league table with 45 points from their 18 matches.

They are followed in the top five on the standings by East Riffa with 35 points, Manama with 31, and Muharraq and last year’s champions Hidd with 27 points apiece. The bottom half of the table featured Al Ahl in sixth place with 21 points and Budaiya with 17 in seventh.

Al Najma dropped to eighth after a loss in their final game of the season on Saturday and that means they will have to play a yet-to-be-determined team from the second division for a spot in the top flight. Bottom-ranked teams Malkiya and Busaiteen, who have 13 and 12 points, respectively, are both relegated to the second division for next season.
