Kevin, Alhaji win Individual Time Trial Challenge

Orlandi Kevin and May Alhaji were the overall winners yesterday in the Individual Time Trial Challenge organised by the Bahrain Cycling Association (BCA) in Zallaq.

Kevin took first place amongst all the men participating while Alhaji was the top finisher amongst the women.

Each competitor needed to cover an 18-kilometre distance in the event.

Kevin won the men’s overall category with a time of 24 minutes 24 seconds.

Waleed Ali Hassan came second in 26:37, while Abdulla Faqihi took the last podium spot in 26:39.

Yousif Zaman was the best Bahraini finisher amongst the men in 26:47.

Abdulbasit Subah Sadiq followed in 27:34, while Mohammed Budhaish was third in 27:51.

In the men’s over-39 class, Si Cox took first place in 26:54.

Neil Brown followed in 27:23 and Glenn Wesley Dulay was third in 27:45.

For the women, Alhaji had a winning time of 27:51.

Bernadette Carton was the women’s overall runner-up in 29:06, while Emma Baker came third in 30:11.

Two-time Olympian Sameera Al Bitar was the best Bahraini woman, finishing in 30:13.

Roaya Al Saati came second in 31:31, while Wafa Joozi was third in 33:55.

Following the challenge, the winners were presented their respective medals and trophies in an awarding ceremony.

BCA president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa and other BCA officials were on hand.
