Bahrain’s under-23 Olympic football team will be departing today for Istanbul where they will hold a twoweek training camp as part of their preparations for their upcoming competitions. The nationals have been practising locally for several weeks under newly signed head coach Ismail Karami.
They will train at the Turkish capital until July 27. One of the Bahrainis’ main upcoming campaigns is their participation in the AFC U23 Asian Cup Qualifiers. Bahrain are in Group C of the qualification competition, alongside Iraq, Afghanistan and the Maldives.
Their qualifying games will be held in the Kingdom during the last week of October. The Bahrainis open the qualifiers on October 27 against Afghanistan, and then play the Maldives two nights later. They close out the process against Iraq on October 31. The 11 group winners from qualification and the four best second-placed teams all seal their berths in next year’s AFC U23 Asian Cup.
