An action-packed calendar of events with racing in almost every weekend between late September and April next year was announced yesterday by the Bahrain Motor Federation (BMF), as part of its exciting 2021/2022 season.
No less than six national championships will be held at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir in drag racing, circuit racing and karting.
The Bahrain Drag Racing Championship, the region’s premier series, will be holding five rounds along BIC’s world-class quarter-mile strip, which is a member of the Worldwide Network of the US-based National Hot Rod Association.
The head-to-head battles will begin with round one from November 16 to 19, followed by round two from November 30 to December 3.
Round three will be held in the new year from January 4 to 7, while round four will take place between February 8 and 11. That will set the stage for the championship finale the very next weekend from February 15 to 18.
The circuit racing events, headlined by the BIC 2,000cc Challenge, will be held over seven meetings. They will get the season underway with testing on September 24, giving competitors a chance to gear up for the first round of their new campaign on October 1.
Round two will be held on the weekend of October 29 and 30 in support of the FIA World Endurance Championship, and then round three will take place on December 10 as part of the Gulf 1,000km weekend.
Rounds four and five are to be held on January 14 and 28, respectively, followed by round six on February 25 and then the seventh and final round on April 1.
The karting schedule will be the busiest of the season with the addition of the all-new Sakhir Rotax Max Challenge (SRMC) complementing the long-established Bahrain Rotax Max Challenge (BRMC) and the Bahrain Sodi World Series (BSWS).
The SRMC will be the first to take to the tarmac at Bahrain International Karting Circuit (BIKC), and it will be held over four rounds. The first two will take place on back-to-back days on October 8 and 9, while rounds three and four will be held on October 22 and 23.
The BRMC and BSWS series will be held over seven rounds each, happening on the same days. Round one is scheduled for January 22 next year, followed by the second and third rounds on February 4 and 5.
Round four will then take place on February 26, with rounds five and six on March 11 and 12. The BMRC and BSWS season-finales will then take place on March 25.
This season’s karting action will also have a gruelling 24- hour endurance race, slated for February 11 and 12 in Sakhir. Aside from all the aforementioned championships, the BMF will be organising four rounds of Autocross at BIC on November 12 and 26, December 24 and March 4.
An exciting programme of international events will also highlight the 2021/2022 season. These will include the FIA Formula 1 Championship, the first-ever FIA WEC double-header in Bahrain, plus the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals 2021 from December 11 to 18 at BIKC.
