Bahrain’s trios advance past qualifiers

Bahrain’s women’s and men’s trios both advanced to the second round of their respective categories in the IBF Super World Championships 2021 being held in Dubai.

Nadia Aqeel, Noora Sultan and Layla Aljanahi teamed up to finish the qualification round as the sixth-best team in the Women’s Trios event yesterday, while Yusuf Falah, Ahmed Alkhaja and Ahmed Algoud made it through ranked 12th in the Men’s Trios qualifiers.

The top 16 trios from each division marched through to the next phase, where they will be divided into four groups of four.

There, they will face one another, with the top two in each group advancing to the knockout quarter-finals, which will be the best of three games.

In qualification, Nadia-Noora-Layla had a total of 2,132 over their 10 games for a 213.20 average.

Their high game was 250 in their last outing.

The US were the top women’s qualifiers with a 2,361 total for a 236.1 average.

Meanwhile, Falah-Alkhaja-Algoud posted a 2,160 total for a 216.00 average in their 10 games, which included a high of 247 in their seventh.

Sweden featured the top men’s trio with scores of 2,414 and 241.40.

Meanwhile, Nadia and Falah both narrowly missed out on advancing to the last eight in their Singles events.

Nadia competed in group two in her Women’s Singles second round and finished with nine points with a 1,580 total and a 226 average in her seven games.

She ranked fifth amongst the eight bowlers in her group.

On the distaff, Falah was fifth in the third group in the Men’s Singles second round. He finished with 10 points from his seven games after posting a 1,639 total for a 234 average.

In this stage, each bowler played a round-robin in their group and only the top two advanced.

Bahrain’s national team continue their campaign in the world championships in the Trios and then are also set to compete in the Mixed Team Singles, Doubles, Trios and Teams events over the next few days.
