Bahrain spikers begin GCC Games training

Bahrain’s senior men’s national volleyball team have begun their preparations for the upcoming GCC Games, set to be held in Kuwait City next month. There are set to be multiple sports at the Games, with the Kingdom also participating in football, basketball and handball as the other major team tournaments. Bahrain head coach Issanaye Ramires from Brazil has named an initial 18-member squad for their final preparations.

The roster includes setters Ali Habib, Mahmood Hasan Ebrahim and Mahmood Al Afia; outside hitters Nasser Anan, Mahmood Abdulwahed, Mohammed Yaqoob, Yousef Khalid, Abdullah Mohammed Jaafar and Sayed Amin; opposites Mohammed Anan, Ali Ebrahim and Ebrahim Mohammed Ebrahim; middle blockers Ali Serafi, Abbas Al Khabbaz, Mohammed Omar, Abu Jassim; and liberos Hussain Abdullah Abbas and Ali Khairala.

The nationals have begun their practices at the Bahrain Volleyball Association courts at Isa Sports City in Riffa. The Bahrainis are set to play five matches at the GCC Games, beginning with a clash against Saudi Arabia on January 11.

They then face off the next day with the UAE, before playing their third game against Oman on January 14. Bahrain then play Qatar on January 15, before their clash two days later with Kuwait in their final fixture.
