Elassaoui, Ivana triumph in five-kilometre fun run

Noaman Elassaoui and Ivana Kuriackova were the victors last night in the five-kilometre fun run, held on the sidelines of this year’s Bahrain Royal Night Half-Marathon in Zallaq.
Elassaoui claimed first place overall as well as in the men’s category with a winning time of 14 minutes 23 seconds.
Oussa Karich was a close runner-up as he finished just one second behind, while Abdellatif Ait Hsine finished third in 15:14. Mubarak Alsulaiti and Salman Abdulsalam Alaadar were fourth and fifth, respectively.
Each of the overall top five came away with prize money.
Elassaoui went home with BD500 for first place, Karich won BD400 in second, Hsine BD300 in third, Alsulaiti BD200 in fourth and Alaadar BD100 in fifth.
Completing the top eight overall and among the men were Mohammed Abdulla Alqooti, Mohammed Alaadar and Abdulnaser Saleh Alhajj.
On the distaff, Ivana was the top female finisher after clocking a time of 17:18.
She was well ahead of the rest of the women, with Miznah Alnassar coming second in 19:26. Katerina Matousova was third in 19:28.
Zahra Mohamed, Aalaa Alsheddi, Maryam Aldossery, Wasan Albasri and Pastushyna Maryna were all amongst the first eight women.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Alaadar and Shayma Alhelaibi were the men’s and women’s winners, respectively, in their 16-29 age groups; Ahmed Mohammed Saad and Maryam Aldossery were the winners in their respective 30-39 age groups; Mohammed Abdulla Alqooti and Jasmin Vaes won the 40-49 groups; Abdulla Salem Alsherooqi and Hanan Ali Alansari triumphed in the 50-59 groups; Hasan Aldawood won the men’s 60-69 age group; Abdi Asghar triumphed in the men’s 70+ category
