Bahrain Motor Federation chief wins FIA vice-presidency

Bahrain Motor Federation president Shaikh Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa won the position of vice-president of the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), following the victory of Mohammed Ben Sulayem of the FIA presidency.
The elections took place in Paris for the four-year period of 2021-2025. Shaikh Abdulla congratulated Ben Sulayem on being elected global motorsport chief and stressed that he will do his best as part of the team under Ben Sulayem’s leadership to achieve the visions they have for the sport.
In addition to his post as FIA vice-president, Shaikh Abdulla also won the position of FIA Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region president. He said that it is a great achievement for Bahrain and it has added to the Kingdom’s honourable accomplishments, especially in motorsport.
He added that it is the result of the great support of Bahrain’s wise leadership and the efforts and experiences of the motorsport community, particularly since the launch of Bahrain International Circuit, “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East”, and the hosting of the first-ever Formula 1 Grand Prix in the region in 2004.
Shaikh Abdulla is considered as a prominent figure in international motorsport. He was previously the president of the Commission Internationale de Karting (CIK) under the FIA for eight years and continues to be a key figure in the sport regionally. HH Shaikh Abdulla expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to all those who supported him in his election bid.
