Macaque lifts Al Hawaj Cup at REHC

Macaque lifted the Al Hawaj Cup in the eight and feature race at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) in Sakhir. Macaque won the 10-furlong event with a BD3,000 prize to lead a fantastic one-two for owners Victorious and trainer Hesham Al Haddad, with Tawaareq coming in second.
Macaque was saddled by Husain Makki to first place, while Tawaareq was ridden by David Egan. Port Douglas finished in third for Al Hassanain Racing, Ali Jan and Ebrahim Nader. Another Al Hawaj Cup was up for grabs yesterday in the seventh race, which was held over eight furlongs with a BD2,000 prize.
It was claimed by Immortal for MKAR Racing and Haider Ebrahim, saddled by George Wood. Breathtaking was second for Abdulla Fawzi Nass, Hesham Al Haddad and David Egan, while Sadara came third for HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, James Naylor and Abdulla Faisal.
In race six for the Ebrahim Bin Saad Al Romahi Cup, held over eight furlongs with a BD2,000 prize, Yousini came in first place for Abdulla Fawzi Nass, Hesham Al Haddad and David Egan. Zezenia was second for MKAR Racing, Haider Ebrahim and Eoin Walsh.
Forbidden Land completed the top three for Hasan Mefareh Alajmi, Hesham Al Haddad and Husain Makki. In the fifth race of the day over a five-furlong straight with a BD3,000 prize, the Horse Welfare Authority Cup was claimed by First Edition, representing Al Mooriyat Racing, AM Smith and Charles Bishop.
Ocean Star followed for Al Afoo Racing, Mohamed Saeed and Lee Newman, while Teenar was third for Al Mohamediya Racing, Husain Aldailami and Neil Callan. Mutawakaluh finished as the winner in race four for Komail and Hashim Al Meshqab Syndicate and Osama Hashim, while ridden by Ebrahim Nader.
Coming second in the seven-furlong, BD2,000 race was Jamais Assez for Al Mallah Syndicate, Abduljaleel Al Mallah and Phil Dennis; while Fifth Fleet was third for MKAR Racing and Haider Ebrahim, ridden by George Wood.
In race three, Manama Girl finished as the winner for Jaber Ramadhan while saddled by Martin Seidl. Sinjar was the runner-up and Hajeer finished third. In race two, Khazzama won for HH Shaikh Hamad bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, James Naylor and Abdulla Faisal. Gharbiya was second and Athba third.
Musannan 1781 won race one to capture the Al Wasmiya Cup for Al Wasmiya, Abdulla Kuwaiti and Andrew Elliott. In second was Al Saqlawy 1807 and Al Suwaity M887 came third.
