Khalifa bin Salman Cup game schedule released

The Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) released yesterday the schedule of games for the first round and quarter-finals of the 2022 Khalifa bin Salman Cup. The single-elimination competition is scheduled to tip-off on January 18, with all 11 of the Kingdom’s basketball clubs in the fray.

There will be three opening-round contests to complete the quarter-final line-up. On January 18, Sitra and Bahrain Club face off at 5.30 pm, followed by Nuwaidrat and Isa Town battling at 7.30 pm.

The next day, Samaheej go against Al Najma at 5.30 pm, and then Muharraq plays Al Ettihad at 7.30 pm. On January 20, Manama and Al Hala face off in the sole game of the day. The two games between Nuwaidrat-Isa Town and Manama-Hala are quarter-final fixtures.

The other two quarter-finals will be played on January 23, when defending two-time cup winners Al Ahli take on the winner of the Sitra-Bahrain Club clash. Then, the winners of Samaheej-Najma and Muharraq-Ettihad face off in the other round-of-eight matchup that evening at 7.30 pm.

Ahli clinched the Khalifa bin Salman Cup the past two seasons and this time will be gunning for a “three-peat”. They won last season’s crown after defeating Manama 96-81 in the tournament final.

With the result, Ahli secured a league-and-cup double for the second consecutive year. They had also defeated Manama in the 2020/2021 league championship series, which they sealed with a two-game sweep.
