There are only that many ways to claim victory inside the mixed martial arts cage, but one of the most satisfying ways to assert technical superiority is to win by submission.

With so many of BRAVE Combat Federation’s amazing athletes evolving their grappling techniques, a submission finish is always a distinct possibility, particularly in bouts that pitch practitioners from different backgrounds against one another.

After an extensive look back through the past 12 months, here are the nominees for the 2021 Submission of the Year.

At BRAVE CF 49: Super Fights in March, Russian veteran Ikram Aliskerov kicked off 2021 in style as he submitted fellow middleweight Miro Jurkovic of Serbia with a Kimura lock, extending his impressive win streak in the organization to three fights.

Meanwhile, former BRAVE CF Featherweight World Champion Elias “Smile” Boudegzdame made an emphatic return to the Bahrain-based outfit by forcing Brice Picaud to tap with a wrenching triangle choke in the first round at BRAVE CF 52: Bad Blood last August.

A few weeks later, Asu Almabaev took the promotion by storm in his maiden appearance, compelling Aleksander Doskalchuk to wave the white flag courtesy of a rear-naked choke in the second round of their flyweight clash at BRAVE CF 53.

On the other hand, Muhammad “The Punisher” Mokaev kept his undefeated strife intact by beating Blaine O’Driscoll in the second round with a tight rear-naked choke at BRAVE CF 54 in September.

Promotional newcomer Kamal Magomedov also made it to the list of candidates for the said award as he thumped in 52 seconds of their BRAVE CF 55 collision with an armbar submission.

Voting for the aforementioned category has commenced, and fans will have a chance to pick the winner by visiting the official Instagram page of BRAVE CF @ bravemmaf.
