Mobaadel wins to lift A’ali Sprint Cup

Mobaadel stormed to a fantastic victory for Al Mohamediya Racing yesterday to lift the A’ali Sprint Cup in the biggest race of the day at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) in Sakhir. In attendance at the races was REHC High Committee chairman His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and other high-ranking officials.

HH Shaikh Isa watched as Neil Callan saddled Hesham Al Haddad-trained Mobaadel to an impressive win in a highly competitive race, held over a five-furlong straight with a BD5,000 prize purse. It was the sixth of eight events on yesterday’s card.

Taking second place was First Edition, owned by Al Mooriyat Racing, trained by AM Smith and ridden by Charles Bishop; while Aurag finished third as another Al Mohamediya Racing horse, trained by Abbas Al Mawali and ridden by Husain Makki.

Neil Callan claimed another win yesterday teamed up with Al Mohamediya Racing and Hesham Al Haddad. He steered Tamerlane to the win in the day’s seventh race to lift one of the three Al Sharif Group Cups.
Held over seven furlongs with a BD4,000 prize, Tamerlane won ahead of Forbidden Land, owned by Hasan Mefareh Alajmi, also trained by Hesham Al Haddad, and ridden by Kieran Shoemark. Inveigle was third representing Gunners Racing, AM Smith and Abdulla Faisal.

Meanwhile, Paddy Mathers saddled Encourage to a victory in the eighth and final race of the day to come away with an Al Sharif Group Cup. The event was contested over 12 furlongs for a BD3,000 prize, and the result earned Al Mohamediya Racing an impressive hat-trick yesterday while securing another win for trainer Hesham Al Haddad.

Tall Order came second for Al Mallah Syndicate, Abduljaleel Al Mallah and Marvin Grandin; while Dawaam came third for George Baker Racing Bahrain Syndicate, George Baker and David Egan. In the fifth race of the day for a third Al Sharif Group Cup, Breathtaking claimed the win over a six-furlong straight for the biggest share of the BD3,000 prize for owner Abdulla Fawzi Nass and trainer Hesham Al Haddad, while saddled by last year’s Bahrain International Trophy winner David Egan.

Dirab came second for Ras Rumman Syndicate, Taleb Ali and Ali Samir, while Dushanbe was third for Zahra Ebrahim Abdulla, Samir Dawood and Husain Makki. In the fourth race of the day, held over nine furlongs with a BD3,000 prize, West Suffolk won the Crown Industries Cup for owner HH Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Isa Al Khalifa and trainer Abdulla Kuwaiti, while ridden by Lewis Edmunds.

La Maquina came second for George Baker Racing Bahrain Syndicate and George Baker, saddled by Charles Bishop; while Apres Dark was third for HBR Racing, Hareb Almalki and Ebrahim Nader. The other Crown Industries Cup yesterday was in race two, where Wewonitsixtimes came out triumphant over seven furlongs for the lion’s share of the BD2,000 prize.

The M and E Racing, AM Smith winner was saddled by Edinson Rodriguez. Lahoug was the runner-up for Rashed Racing, Yousif Alboainain and Ebrahim Nader; while Madaar came third for Hussain Ali Abdulla Ebrahim, Jaffar Radhi and Husain Makki.

The WAHO Cup in the first race of the day, covering seven furlongs with a BD2,000 prize, was claimed by Obeyan 1777 for KHK Racing, Hesham Al Haddad and Husain Makki. Kuheilan Afas 1708 for Victorious, Yousif Taher and Hasan Al Saffar was the runner-up, while Kuheilan Afas 1695 for Al Wasmiya, Abdulla Kuwaiti and Abdulla Faisal finished third.

Race three over nine furlongs with a BD2,000 prize saw Manshood take first place MKAR Racing, Haider Ebrahim and George Wood. Hajeer was in second place for HH Shaikh Hamad bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, Haider Ebrahim and Abdulla Faisal; and Mugheerah third for Al Nayefaat, Abdulla Kuwaiti and Lewis Edmunds.
