Murthy wins Abdulla Ali Kanoo Cup at Awali Golf Club

CV Murthy was crowned winner of the 53rd Abdulla Ali Kanoo Cup, held over the weekend at Awali Golf Club (AGC).

Murthy clinched first place overall after scoring a net 64 while breaking 90 for the first time.

He started his round with four pars and two bogeys after the first six holes.

Taking the overall runner-up spot was Lynn St Lawrence, who finished with a net 67 score.

Meanwhile, Nasser Yaqoob Saleh won the medal for the best gross round for the day.

He played a 70, which included four birdies and four bogeys, with the rest on even par.

Aside from the main winners, three prizes were also awarded in each of the competition’s three divisions.

Winning division one with a net 70 and a better back nine from his closest challenger was Salah Al Shaer.

Lee McIlear claimed second place also on a net 70, while Saleh came third on a net 71.

In division two, KN Singh was the winner with a net 68 score.

Han John finished as runner-up with a net 69, while Gerry Dunn came third on a net 70.

Division three saw Sanjay Totlani take the win.

He had a net 67 that saw him parring three of the par threes.

Joan Martin came second with a net 68, while Tony Robinson was third with a net 71.

Following the play, the prizes were handed out to the winners by Ahmed Abdulla Kanoo, who expressed his warm feelings towards AGC and fond memories of Bill O´Brien in particular.

AGC captain Susan Scott was on hand at the presentation ceremony.
