The semi-final matches in His Majesty the King’s Cup football tournament—the Kingdom’s richest competition in the sport—are scheduled for tonight and tomorrow at the National Stadium in Riffa.
This evening, Al Khaldiya take on Al Najma before holders Riffa battle with neighbours East Riffa tomorrow.
Both games are scheduled for 6 pm kick-offs.
HM the King’s Cup is a knockout competition that rewards the champions a whopping $200,000 in prize money, while the runners-up get $80,000.
Khaldiya reached the final four following a 3-0 victory over Hidd in the round of eight, while Najma needed an 8-7 penalty shootout win over Al Ahli after their quarter-final clash was deadlocked at 1-1 at the end of regular time.
Riffa, meanwhile, beat AFC Cup champions Muharraq 4-1, also on penalties, as their 90-minute affair produced no goals.
East Riffa also needed a shootout to advance, beating Manama 4-3 after they were tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation.
Riffa has won HM the King’s Cup the past two seasons, and are hoping to claim their third title in a row as well as their eighth overall.
Muharraq remains the most successful team in the tournament, having lifted the prestigious trophy 33 times.
