Banagas, BBK cups to be won today at REHC

Eight races are on an exciting card today at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) in Sakhir.

The Bahrain National Gas Company (Banagas) Cup will be up for grabs in the day’s feature event, while the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cup and five Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK) Cups will also be on offer.

The Banagas Cup will be contested in the day’s final race, to be held over a 12-furlong distance with a BD5,000 prize on offer.

Five imported contenders rated zero to 95 are in the fray, including Encourage competing for Al Mohamediya Racing, to be ridden by Neil Callan; and Port Douglas for Al Hassanain Racing, to be ridden by Cameron Noble.

Also set to battle it out on the race track are Blu Boy, also for Al Hassanain Racing, Law of One for Al Afoo Racing and Neoclassical for H and A Racing.

Meanwhile, the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cup will be in race seven, to cover seven furlongs with a BD3,000 prize.

Tipped with a chance are Bahrain Turf Series winner Happy Craf for M and E Racing, to be ridden by Edinson Rodriguez; Koolasice for Mark T Gittins, to be saddled by Charles Bishop; and Laieth for EERC, with last year’s Bahrain International Trophy-winning jockey David Egan.

The others set to compete are Mission Boy for MKAR Racing; Nebo for Julie Routledge-Martin and David R Martin and Dan Hall; and Nine Below Zero for Al Afoo Racing.

The five BBK Cups will be in the sixth, fifth, fourth, third and first races. In race six, over seven furlongs with a BD2,000 prize, Chimgan, Sahara Spear and Lathaa are the favourites.

Breathtaking, Ramani and Mughayer have been tipped with a chance in race five, set for seven furlongs with a BD3,000 prize; while Modmin, Jamais Assez and Apres Dark are favoured in race four, to be held over six furlongs with a BD2,000 prize.

The third race will be held over nine furlongs with a BD2,000 prize, while race one is to be contested over six furlongs with a BD2,000 prize, and tipped with a chance to win are Al Saqlawy 1807, Al Saqlawieh 1799 and Al Krush 1823.

Today’s card is completed by the second race, to be contested over a six-furlong straight with a BD2,000 prize.

With chance are Dirab, Kailash and Murjani.
