Bahrain rise to 89th on FIFA World Ranking

Bahrain has improved two spots to 89th on the FIFA World Ranking.
The latest edition of the global classification of senior men’s national football teams was released yesterday by the sport’s international governing body FIFA.
The Bahrainis earned an additional 11.42 ranking points to improve to a 1,263.61 total.
The nationals are now 12thbest in the Asian Football Confederation but only fifth amongst the six GCC teams.
Iran is the top side in the continent being 21st in the world, followed by Japan in 23rd, South Korea in 29th and Australia in 37th.
Qatar is top in the Gulf in 52nd, followed by Saudi Arabia one place behind, the UAE in 69th and Oman in 79th.
Kuwait is ranked 143rd in the world. Bahrain’s ranking in 89th is their best position in a decade.
In 2010, their best ranking for the year was 60th, but in 2011 and 2012 their best was 93rd. The Bahrainis have been ranked in the 100s until 2019 when they went as high as 99th, then in 2020, their best was 97th.
In 2021, Bahrain’s top classification was 90th.
Bahrain’s average ranking is 100, with their best being 44th which they achieved in 2004 and the worst was 139th in 2000.
Belgium is the top-ranked team in the world.
They are followed in the top 10 by Brazil, France, Argentina, England, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Denmark and the Netherlands.
