Bahrain welcomes delegations to third West Asian Para Games - Bahrain 2022

The delegations and participants in the 3rd West Asian Para Games - Bahrain 2022 have begun in Bahrain. 

The games will continue until February 27, 2022, and will be held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee. They are the second-largest sporting event in the Kingdom’s history for both Para athletes and all athletes.

There will be teams participating from 11 different countries and 700 male and female Para athletes, with 70 referees and classification teams from 26 different countries. The Para athletes will be competing in 7 different sports, Para Athletics, Wheelchair Basketball, Boccia, Goalball, Para Table Tennis, Para-Badminton and Para Powerlifting.

 The committee confirmed that they have begun the process of categorising the participating teams based on their impairments, with the aim of having an equal playing field and opportunities for all of them, as well as developing the schedule in which they will compete in. The teams are keen to start their preparations and training ahead of the start of the games as they arrive in Bahrain.

The organising committee wished all the teams a pleasant and wonderful stay in Bahrain and every success in the games.
