Mohammed Al Saud from Saudi Arabia won the daily prize as the qualification round-headed into its final days in the His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa First Bowling Championship, currently being held at Funland Centre. Al Saud posted the day’s high series of 754 pins to improve to a 2,161 total for a 240.

11 average in fourth place on the men’s division standings. Participants in the qualification stage must play at least three trials to be eligible to advance to the ensuing rounds. Their top three scores will be counted on the standings. Today is the last day of qualifying.

Still in first place was Bahrain national team star Yousef Falah with a 2,215 total and 246.11 average. His three best series are 804—which is the highest score in the tournament so far and the only one above 800 pins—718 and 693. Ahmed Almahri (2,205, 245.00) from the UAE is second and Ali Al Mass (2,168, 240.89) third.

Bader Thamer (2,158, 239.78) from Saudi follows in fifth, while Abdulrahman Alkheliwi (2,139, 237.67) from Saudi, Ali Al Rashdi (2,126, 236.22) and Mohammed Ismail (2,123, 235.89), both from the UAE, round off the top eight. Meanwhile, things remained unchanged in the top three of the women’s category, but Hind Al Mammadi from the UAE and Noora Sultan both narrowed the gap to current leader Nadia Al Awadhi. Nadia continues to occupy the top spot with a 1,857 total and 206.33 average. Her three best series so far are 751, 553 and 553. Hind raised her total to 1,752 for a 194.67 average, while Noora improved her total to 1,651 for a 183.44 average. Layla Al Janahi (1,613, 179.22), Reem Jamal from the UAE (1,597, 177.44), Maricel Sultan (1,583, 175.89), Nahla Adas (1,532, 170.22) from Saudi and Reem Sultan (1,505, 167.22) complete the women’s top eight.

The top three in the seniors’ division also remained the same. Mohammed bin Sultan Al Saud from Saudi continues to lead with a 2,035 total for a 226.11 average. His best three trials include scores of 703, 697 and 635.

Yousif Al Ali follows in second with counts of 2,006 and 222.89, while Dante Tisdom from the U.S. is third with a 1,931 total and 214.56 average. Completing the seniors’ top eight are Yasser Abu Alreesh (1,884, 209.33) from Saudi, Arif Murseel (1,867, 207.44), Mohammed Al Shawoosh (1,851, 205.67), Mustafa Al Gaed (1,827, 203.00) and Isa Akbari (1,756, 195.11).

At the end of qualification today, the top 24 men march through to their next phase, while only the top eight from the women’s and seniors’ divisions will qualify in their categories. The tournament is scheduled to be held until Saturday, and it features prize money worth more than BD19,000, to be allocated to the top finishers in the men’s, women’s and seniors divisions.
