Exciting eight-race card set for REHC

Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) hosts an exciting eight race card today in Sakhir, with three General Sports Authority (GSA) Cups up for grabs along with two REHC Cups.

The GSA Cups will be on offer in the eighth and feature race, as well as in races five and four; while the REHC Cups will be in the day’s seventh and second events.

Race eight is to be contested over eight furlongs with a BD4,000 prize purse.

Some of the big names in the 11-horse field are Mushtaq for FF Racing, trained by Hareb Almalki and to be ridden by Ebrahim Nader; Forbidden Land for Hasan Mefareh Alajmi, trained by Hesham Al Haddad and to be saddled by David Egan; Giustino competing for Al Adiyat Racing and AM Smith, with jockey Kieran Shoemark; Mission Boy for MKAR Racing, trained by Haider Ebrahim and to be ridden by George Wood; and Prince Elzaam for Al Mohamediya Racing, trained by Taleb Ali and to be saddled by Neil Callan.

In race five, the GSA Cup will be contested over 14 furlongs, with a BD3,000 prize purse up for the taking.

Many top names are in the 12-horse line-up, including Arctic Vega and Hessa for Al Mohamediya Racing, Thahaby for Abdulla Fawzi Nass, Wild Hero for HBR Racing and King of the Throne for Al Afoo Racing. In the fourth race, 12 horses will be vying for the GSA Cup over a six-furlong straight and a BD4,000 prize.

A star-studded field will be competing in the sprint, including Aureg for Al Mohamediya Racing, Desert Gulf for Al Mohamediya and Fawzi Nass, Swindler for Victorious, Breath of Air for Al Adiyat Racing, Ocean Star for Al Afoo Racing and Graphite Storm for Al Hassanain Racing, to name a few.

Meanwhile, the REHC Cup in race seven will feature a packed field of 18 horses, battling it out over nine furlongs for a share of the BD2,000 prize purse.

Tipped with a chance are Encourage, competing for Al Mohamediya Racing, trained by Hesham Al Haddad and to be ridden by Neil Callan; Modmin, representing HBR Racing, Hareb Almalki and Ebrahim Nader; and Caledonian Crusade, also for Al mohamediya and Al Haddad, while saddled by Husain Makki.

The other REHC Cup will be contested over six furlongs in race two, offering a BD2,000 total race value.

Mudallal, Khazzama and Istishara are the pre-race favourites.

Mudallal is competing for the trio of Al Mohamediya, Al Haddad and Callan; while Khazzama is representing HH Shaikh Hamad bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, Haider Ebrahim and Abdulla Faisal; and Istishara is racing for HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, Haider Ebrahim and Eoin Walsh.
