Motorsport history to be made as Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2022 gets underway today at BIC

Sparks will fly and engines will roar as the global sporting spotlight shines on Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) today as the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2022 kicks F1’s new era into gear amidst plenty of excitement and unpredictability.
The world will be watching closely as the top flight’s star drivers take to the 5.412-kilometre desert track for the first time in a competitive session, behind the wheel of their newly designed cars.
“The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East” will be staging two-hour-long F1 Practices today, with the first scheduled for a 3 pm start under the afternoon sun, to be followed by the second session in the evening starting at 6 pm to be held under lights.
All 10 F1 teams will be putting their contenders through their paces to get them ready for tomorrow’s all-important Qualifying session, which will determine the grid for Sunday’s main event: the 57-lap, floodlit Bahrain Grand Prix. A third practice tomorrow will precede Qualifying.
