Desert Gulf lifts ASRY Cup at REHC

Desert Gulf lifted the Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (ASRY) Cup yesterday in the feature race of the day at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) in Sakhir.

The Al Mohamediya Racing and Fawzi Nass-owned winner, trained by Hesham Al Haddad, was ridden by Neil Callan. Desert Gulf finished first over seven furlongs to claim the lion’s share of the BD5,000 prize.

Nine Below Zero was the runner-up for Al Afoo Racing, Mohammed Hasan and Marvin Grandin, while Mayaas came third for Al Hassanain Racing, Ali Jan and Abdulla Al Hawaj. Meanwhile, two cups dedi[1]cated to HH Shaikh Sultan bin Hamad Al Khalifa were on offer, and they were won by Al Fajir Mukbile and Musannan 1811.

Al Fajir Mukbile claimed the seventh race, held over eight furlongs with a BD3,000 prize, for Raed Ahmed Yousif Alboainain, Yousif Alboainain and Abdulla Faisal. Modmin came second for HBR Racing and Hareb Almalki, while saddled by Ebrahim Nader, while Son of Normandy came third for Husain Marzooq Jaafar, Jaffar Radhi and Abdulrahim Jasim.
Musannan 1811 triumphed in the day’s first race—a WAHO event for the HH Shaikh Sultan bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup, held over a five-furlong straight with a BD2,000 prize.

Musannan 1811 clinched first for Al Wasmiya, Abdulla Kuwaiti and Marvin Grandin. Kuheilan Al Adiyat 1813 for Victorious, Yousif Taher and Hasan Al Saffar was the runner-up and Krushan 1793 was third for Al Roudha, Hussain Aldailami and Ebrahim Nader.

Also yesterday, Immortal lifted the HH Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup in the sixth race for MKAR Racing, Haider Ebrahim and Abdulla Faisal, while Mediterranean Moon won race three to clinch the HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup, competing for M and E Racing, AM Smith and Edinson Rodriguez.

The REHC Cup in the fourth race was claimed by Fares Kodiac for Marjan Syndicate, Abdulredha Abbas and Abdulla Faisal. The list of the day’s winners was completed by Lathaa in race five for HH Shaikh Hamad bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, Haider Ebrahim and Abdulla Faisal; while Aldurah won the second race for Al Afoo Racing, Mohammed Hasan and Hasan Al Saffar.
