Nasser bin Hamad Cycling Tour to kick off today

Under the patronage of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of HM the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, Nasser bin Hamad Cycling Tour for Amateur Cyclists will kick off today.

Organised by Faalyat company in collaboration with Bahrain Cycling Association, the three-day event will conclude on Saturday. The first day will take place in Sakhir, starting at 15:30 with the presence of a broad pool of cyclists.

The first stage will cover a distance of 55-60km, while the second stage will take place in Durrat Al Bahrain on Friday, and will cover a distance of 80-95km. On the final day, Saturday will see cyclists vying in Al Jazair public beach on a distance of 60-70km.

On this occasion, HH Shaikh Nasser expressed appreciation and gratitude to Bahrain Cycling Association for their efforts to discover new talents and inject them into the national teams, stating that this Tour is a testament to the Association’s endeavours.

His Highness further explained that the cycling races have always witnessed broad turnout, pointing out that the Tour is expected to witness strong competition among all the participants. He wished all the competitors the best of luck, praising the efforts of the Association under the presidency of Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and all the Organising Committee.

From his side, Sayed Shuber Al Widaei, Secretary of the Association expressed gratitude for His Highness’ continued support for the cycling sport, explaining that the Federation is proud of organising the 1st Nasser bin Hamad Tour for Amateur Cyclists.

General Arbitrator Arrives Meanwhile, the general arbitrator of the event Abdullah Al Hooseni of UAE has arrived in the Kingdom ahead of the event. He examined the tour routes upon his arrival in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

He also attended a technical meeting which was organised by the Organising Committee, during which the numbers were given to the participating cyclists. Moreover, the Organising Committee has concluded all the preparations related to the event which is expected to witness wide participation.
