Nasser bin Hamad Cycling Tour flags off

Under the patronage of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of HM the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, the 1st Nasser bin Hamad Tour for Amateur Cyclists began yesterday in the presence of HH Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of the General Sports Authority and President of Bahrain Combat Sports Council and Dr Abdulrahman Askar, CEO of the General Sports Authority and Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain Cycling Association.

The event is being organised by Faalyat company in collaboration with Bahrain Cycling Association. HH Shaikh Nasser stressed the significance of spreading the culture of the cycling sport, stating that it’s one of the goals of organising this event.

HH Shaikh Nasser praised the wide participation in the event which was witnessed in the first stage, adding that it’s a source of gratitude and appreciation and confirms the keenness of the young Bahrainis to practice this sport.

His Highness thanked Bahrain Cycling Association for their efforts under the presidency of Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, extending appreciation to the Association’s Board members as well as the Organising Committee members, arbitrators, and the technical committees.

He wished all the participants and the Organising Committee members full success. Meanwhile, HH Shaikh Nasser congratulated the winners in the first stage. It’s worth noting that HH Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and Dr Abdulrahman Askar crowned the winners.

They include Ali Hassan Jawad who came first and Abdullah Ali who collected the red shirt, while the blue shirt for the under 23-year-old participants went to Jasim Mohammed. Hussain Mohammed got the green shirt, while Saber Mohammed received the white shirt for the above 40-year-old competitors. The second and third stages will take place on Friday and Saturday respectively.
