Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club set for thrilling season-finale

The final meeting of the national horseracing season is set to take place tomorrow at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) in Sakhir, with an exciting eight races on the card.

The headlining event of the day will be the HH Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa Cup, which will be the eighth and feature race, to be held over eight furlongs with a BD12,000 total prize to be shared by the winners.

Heading into the event, tipped with a chance are Yousini for Abdulla Fawzi Nass and Hesham Al Haddad, to be ridden by Cameron Noble; Byline representing Al Adiyat Racing, AM Smith and Kieran Shoemark; and Beauchamp Bagenal competing for KHK Racing, Hesham Al Haddad and Husain Makki.

The others in the roster of 12 imported contenders are Prince Elzaam and Shebil Aljazira for Al Mohamediya Racing, Baashir and Maystar for Al Afoo Racing, Ecosystem and Magical Wish for MKAR Racing, Giustino for Al Adiyat Racing, Laieth for EERC, and Sonja Henie for Victorious.

The seventh race of the day will be for the Bahrain Gold Cup, sponsored by stc. BD10,000 is on offer for the nine imported horses battling over 10 furlongs. Tipped with a chance are Tawaareq, competing for Victorious, Hesham Al Haddad and Cameron Noble; Encourage representing Al Mohamediya Racing, Hesham Al Haddad and Neil Callan; and Classical Wave for Victorious, Hesham Al Haddad and Husain Makki.

Also set to race are Cloud Drift for Gunners Racing, King of the Throne and Taqareer for Al Afoo Racing, Macaque for Victorious, Tall Order for Al Mallah Syndicate, and What A Welcome for Ahmed Al Isa.

The sixth race of the day is for the Owners Cup, and it will be held over 10 furlongs with a BD8,000 prize. Seven locally bred horses are in the fray, and the pre-race favourites are Epic competing for Abdulla Fawzi Nass, Hesham Al Haddad and Husain Makki; Living Art representing Abdulla Sami Nass, Hesham Al Haddad and Neil Callan; and Immortal for MKAR Racing and Haider Ebrahim, with Kieran Shoemark in the saddle.

Race five for the stc Cup is over a five-furlong straight with a BD6,000 prize purse, and tipped with a chance are First Edition, Dark Shadow and Ocean Star. Race four has a big field of 18 horses competing over nine furlongs for the REHC Cup.

They will be vying for a share of the BD3,000 in prize money. Race three is for another stc Cup, to be held over eight furlongs with a BD4,000 prize. Mudallal, Manshood and Mediterranean Moon are set to compete amongst a field of 12.

The second race of the day is for the HH Shaikh Isa bin Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa Cup, and it will be over seven furlongs with a BD3,000 prize. The first race is a WAHO event for the Al Roudha Cup. It will be contested over nine furlongs with a BD1,500 total prize on offer. Tipped with a chance are Kuheilan Afas 1708, Kuheilan Afas 1695 and Kuheila’t Al Adiyat 1782.
