Abdulkarim, Alansari score big in Funland Ramadan bowling

Abdulla Abdulkarim and Ahmed Alansari scored the high series on day six of qualifying in the Funland Ramadan Bowling Tournament 2022, being played at Funland Centre.

Abdulkarim had a top trial of 782 pins in Group A while Alansari posted a best mark of 732 amongst the Group B participants.

Bowlers in the tournament are being divided into two groups, with Group A for advanced competitors and Group B for beginners and ladies. Contestants from both groups in this first phase attempt trials as much as they need, with the total pinfalls including handicap for their best three trials being considered.

Each trial is composed of three games. In Group A, Abdulkarim’s score was his best of the competition to date, and it added to his other two leading trials of 697 and 693. Despite scoring the high series, he remained second on the division standings with a 2,172 total for a 241.3 average.

He continued to stay behind leader Emerson Gotencio from the Philippines who had a 2,212 total and 245.8 average. Sultan Almasri from Saudi Arabia was classified third with marks of 1,948 and 216.4, while completing the top five were Dante Tisdom (1,933, 214.8) from the U.S. and Essa Taqi (1,927, 214.1).

Isa Khalid (1,863, 207.0), Ahmed Fareed (1,862, 206.9) and Mohammed Alansari (1,856, 206.2) completed the top eight. Meanwhile, Ahmed Alansari’s best in Group B was his high series of the competition thus far.

It added to his two other leading marks of 645 and 601, as he improved his total to 1,978 for an average of 219.8. That propelled him to first place on the divisional standings. He leapfrogged Euly Salcedo from the Philippines, who went second with a 1,904 total and 211.6 average.

Khalid Sameer was third on a 1,821 total and 202.3 average, while Ronald Seralvo (1,785, 198.3) and Dexter De Asis (1,777, 197.4) from the Philippines rounded off the top five. Isa Akbari (1,766, 196.2), Sami Saloom (1,714, 190.4) and Abdulla Arif (1,700, 188.9) were sixth through eighth, respectively.

Qualifying continues today at Funland with this first of the tournament’s five stages continuing until April 21. Bowlers ranked first and second from Groups A and B at the end of this phase will advance directly to round three, while bowlers ranked third to 16th from each group will play in round two.

The Funland Ramadan Bowling Tournament is being held in memory of the Late Murtadha Qudrat Rasti, the Late Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, and the Late Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Khalifa.

Nearly BD4,000 in prize money will be on offer to the top 16 finishers.
