Croatian Basic named new Olympic football team head coach

The Bahrain Football Association (BFA) have announced the signing of Croatian Dario Basic as the new head coach of the Kingdom’s under-23 Olympic football team. Basic is a young tactician with experience coaching teams in the UAE and most recently the Oman Olympic team.
Basic replaces former Olympic team head coach Ismail Karimi. His appointment was confirmed in a signing ceremony attended by BFA vice-president His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Isa Al Khalifa, in the presence of BFA technical affairs department head Abed Al Ansari.
The terms of his deal were not disclosed. Basic will be joined on the Olympic team’s coaching staff by Bahraini assistant Khaled Taj in addition to other technical team members. The Gulf Games next month will be the first task for Basic in his new role.
