Abdulkarim, Seralvo excel in Funland Ramadan bowling

Abdulla Abdulkarim and Ronald Seralvo were the high scorers on the 10th day of qualifying in the Funland Ramadan Bowling Tournament 2022, currently being held at Funland Centre’s lanes.
Abdulkarim posted an impressive 732 trial to top all Group A participants on the day, while Seralvo had a mark of 624 pins to lead the Group B bowlers.
Bowlers in the tournament are being divided into two groups, with Group A for advanced competitors and Group B for beginners and ladies.
Contestants from both groups in this first phase attempt trials as much as they need, with the total pinfalls including handicap for their best three trials being considered. Each trial is composed of three games.
Qualifying action continues today and goes on until April 21. It is the first of the championship’s five stages. Abdulkarim scored a 732 series for the second time in this phase of the tournament, and they added to his best trial thus far of 782 pins.
The Bahraini talent improved his total to 2,246 for a 249.6 average, but stayed in second place on the Group A standings behind leader Emerson Gotencio from the Philippines, who boasted a 2,283 total and 253.7 average.
Gotencio’s top three trials to date have been 793, 765 and 725 pins, as he and Abdulkarim remain the only two bowlers to have scored over 700 at least thrice in the 10 days of play.
Behind the leading pair in third was Ahmed Al Goud, who raised his average to 233.0 from a 2,097 total. Essa Taqi was fourth on marks of 2,024 and 224.9, while Isa Khalid was fifth (1,999, 222.1) and Ahmed Fareed (1,982, 220.2) sixth.
JM Villanueva (1,965, 218.3) from the Philippines ranked seventh and Sultan Al Masri (1,948, 216.4) from Saudi Arabia completed Group A’s top eight.
In Group B, Seralvo’s 624 trial was his best of the competition, and it added to his other top scores of 623 and 582 to bring his total to 1,829 for a 203.2 average. Seralvo climbed up to third.
Still in first place was Ahmed Al Ansari with a 1,964 total and a 218.2 average, while Seralvo’s fellow-Filipino bowler Euly Salcedo was ranked second with a 1,917 total and 213.0 average.
Isa Akbari (1,826, 202.9) and Khaled Sameer (1,821, 202.3) were fourth and fifth, respectively, followed by Dexter De Asis in sixth with a similar total and average as Sameer. Sami Saloom (1,791, 199.0) and Hussain Busheri (1,765, 196.1) rounded off the leading eight in Group B.
At the end of the qualifying round, bowlers ranked first and second from Groups A and B will advance directly to round three, while bowlers ranked third to 16th from each group will play in round two.
The Funland Ramadan Bowling Tournament is being held in memory of the Late Murtadha Qudrat Rasti, the Late Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, and the Late Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Khalifa. Nearly BD4,000 in prize money will be on offer to the top 16 finishers.
