Ahmed Fareed led all scorers on the 11th day of qualifying in the Funland Ramadan Bowling Tournament 2022, currently being played at Funland Centre’s lanes. Fareed posted a 706 series for the best overall trial on the day and the leading mark amongst all Group A participants. Ronald Seralvo from the Philippines followed suit by scoring the day’s high series in Group B of 635 pins. The pair came away with the daily prizes following their achievements.

Bowlers in the tournament are being divided into two groups, with Group A for advanced competitors and Group B for beginners and ladies. Contestants from both groups in this first phase attempt trials as much as they need, with the total pinfalls including handicap for their best three trials being considered.

Each trial is composed of three games. Qualifying action continues today (Editor’s note: Thursday, April 7) and goes on until April 21. It is the first of the championship’s five stages. Fareed’s high series of 706 pins was his second-best trial of the competition to date. It added to his other top scores of 728 and 630, improving his three-series total to 2,064 pins for a 229.3 average which helped him climb to fourth place on the Group A standings.

In Group B, Seralvo’s 635 score was his best trial so far in the tournament, and it earned him his division’s top mark for the second successive day. His two other leading series were 634 and 624, earning him a total of 1,893 for a 210.3 average.

Seralvo remained in third place on the standings, behind current leader Ahmed Al Ansari (1,964, 218.2) and fellow-Filipino Euly Salcedo (1,917, 213.0). Isa Akbari ranked fourth with a 1,826 total and 202.9 average, while Sami Saloom was fifth on a 1,824 total and 202.7 average.

At the end of the qualifying round, bowlers ranked first and second from Groups A and B will advance directly to round three, while bowlers ranked third to 16th from each group will play in round two.
