Bahraini-British racing team 2 Seas Motorsport have confirmed a second entry for the opening round of the 2022 Intelligent Money British GT Championship, set to be held April 16 to 18 at Oulton Park. 2 Seas are returning to the series after a year away, and this further entry will combine efforts with the Sky Tempesta Racing team, driven by Chris Froggatt and Kevin Tse.
They will be competing alongside the 2 Seas pair of Lewis Williamson and James Cottingham, who will challenge for the Pro-Am honours in their Mercedes-AMG GT3 car. Froggatt and Tse join the team for the season opener looking for a strong result, with both drivers having raced in GT3 competition across Europe in recent seasons.
Tse will be in a familiar environment as he makes a return to the Cheshire circuit where he claimed victory in the series last year, driving a MercedesAMG GT3. Meanwhile, Froggatt joins the British GT grid for the first time but brings significant GT3 experience to the line-up. 2 Seas team co-owner and driver His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla Al Khalifa commented: “The pairing of Chris and Kevin is an exciting one to confirm for our return to the British GT grid, alongside James and Lewis.
“Kevin knows what it takes to win at Oulton Park having enjoyed previous success last year and he knows the car well, while Chris is a proven title winner in both sprint and endurance events, in arguably the most competitive GT3 series. “Together, they are a force to be reckoned with and, along with the sister car, we will be pushing to start the season off in the best way possible.” The 2022 season has seen 2 Seas Motorsport continuing the winning ways from last season, with victory at the Gulf 12 Hours event in Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi.
The team retained the title for a second year after a season which saw victories at each event contested, including a successful one-off British GT outing, winning the Silverstone 500. The opening round of the British GT season will feature Qualifying to be run on April 16 afternoon with the two onehour races taking place on April 18.
