HH Shaikh Nasser hails declaration of 2022 as Bahraini Youth Year

HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of HM the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, reiterated his gratitude and appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, on the occasion of declaring the year 2022 as the Bahraini Youth Year.

This came during the opening of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, which was chaired by His Highness and attended by HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, and Their Highnesses, Excellencies and Members of the Council.

During the meeting, HH Shaikh Nasser received the General Sports Authority’s report from HH Shaikh Khalid, where His Highness reviewed the report dealing with the achievements of the General Sports Authority since its establishment in May last year.

The report contained details of the visits made by HH Shaikh Khalid to the national clubs and sports federations, and the results achieved from those visits, in addition to presenting the administrative performance of the various departments and sections of the Authority and the achievements accomplished, in order to serve the sports institutions in the Kingdom. HH Shaikh Nasser expressed appreciation for the efforts made by HH Shaikh Khalid to continue advancing sports in the Kingdom.

The meeting also discussed the proposed Olympic Park project, which comes as an integration of a series of infrastructure projects for the development of the sports sector in the Kingdom. The park will include many innovative facilities that will attract visitors and contribute to the revitalisation of sports tourism in Bahrain, in addition to allocating an area within the park to highlight the achievements of the distinguished athletes.

HH Shaikh Nasser praised the proposed project, stressing that it represents a valuable addition to the development of the sports infrastructure in the Kingdom and the revitalisation of sports tourism to achieve the Kingdom’s economic vision 2030, whereby His Highness directed to add the Olympic Park proposal within the Sports City project in Sakhir area.
