Bahraini-British motor racing team 2 Seas Motorsport unveiled yesterday their bold new livery for their upcoming season, which they kick off this weekend with the first round of the 2022 Intelligent Money British GT Championship at Oulton Park in the UK.

The brand-new look on the team’s Mercedes-AMG GT3 challenger makes for a radical change from the blue-and-black combination of the past campaign.

The fresh colour scheme of yellow, red and black are to now catch the eye on the DK Engineering-backed #4 race car, which is to be shared by drivers Lewis Williamson and James Cottingham.

Williamson and Cottingham will contend for Pro-Am honours, while 2 Seas are also entering another car in combining efforts with the Sky Tempesta Racing team, to be driven by Chris Froggatt and Kevin Tse.

Froggatt and Tse join the team for the season-opener looking for a strong result, with both drivers having raced in GT3 competition across Europe in recent seasons. 2 Seas, co-owned by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, is re-joining the British GT field after debuting with a full season entry during the 2020 season, finishing third overall in GT3 teams’ championship.

A switch to the Mercedes-AMG customer racing family for 2021 saw a one-off entry at the blue riband Silverstone 500, delivering a dominant performance as part of a season in which the team took victories at every race event contested.

The 2022 season has already seen 2 Seas continuing the winning ways from last season, with victory at the Gulf 12 Hours event in Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi.

The team retained the title for a second year after a season which saw victories at each event contested, including a successful one-off British GT outing, winning the Silverstone 500. The opening round of the British GT season at Oulton Park will feature Qualifying to be run on Saturday afternoon, with the two one-hour races taking place on Monday.

Speaking ahead of the new season, team co-owner Nick Cristofaro commented: “The British GT championship has proved itself to be one of the most competitive domestic GT series in the world, but we are going into the new year feeling very positive.

“Pre-season testing has been extremely promising with James and Lewis, and we all have one clear aim for 2022: to be back on the top step of the podium.” 2 Seas will be part of a 31-car entry comprising 18 GT3s and 13 GT4s in the series.

The Bahraini-British outfit have been busy testing over the past few weeks in the UK ahead of the season’s start. Williamson and Cottingham were able to put in a good amount of time testing in the car, gaining confidence and knowledge that will be crucial to their upcoming campaign.
