Funland Centre general manager Adel Rasti praised the success of the Funland Ramadan Bowling Tournament 2022, and highlighted that the best is yet to come in the competition’s knockout stages this Friday and Saturday. The qualifying round is set to conclude tomorrow night, and bowlers ranked first and second from Groups A and B will advance directly to round three, while bowlers ranked third to 16th from each group will play in round two.

The participants have been divided into two groups, with Group A for advanced bowlers and Group B for beginners and ladies. “We are very thankful to all the bowlers who have participated in our tournament this year,” said Rasti. “We have competitors from all parts of the world, including the US, the UK, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia and of course our best bowlers here in Bahrain.

“It has been an excellent turnout with a lot of trials played, and I am certain that qualifying is just an indication of how competitive the knockout rounds will be. “We greatly look forward to seeing the best go up against one another and we invite all bowling enthusiasts to come and enjoy the action.” The tournament is being held in honour of the Late Murtadha Qudrat Rasti, the Late Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, and the Late Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Khalifa.

Bowlers qualified to round two will play five games on different lanes while changing lanes every game. The top six from each group according to their total pinfalls with handicap will advance to the third round. In round three, the top two bowlers from Groups A and B in the first round will be joined by the top six from round two to make a 16-bowler field.

They will go head-to-head in eight matches, with the opponents based on the ranking from the previous stages.

The winners from each match advance to round four, while losers will be ranked ninth to 16th according to their games in this third stage. In the fourth round, the eight bowlers will go head-to-head once more, with the match-ups based on their ranking from the previous stage.

The four victors will march through to the semi-finals, with the losers to be ranked fifth through eighth, depending on their game scores. The tournament’s fifth and last round will feature both the semi-finals and final. The semis are once again in matchplay format, with the winners advancing to the title-decider. The final will be played over one game, and the winner will be declared champion.
