Al Towareb, Al Goud top scorers in Funland Ramadan bowling

Ziad Al Towareb from Saudi Arabia and Khalid Al Goud were the top scorers on day 25 of qualifying in the Funland Ramadan Bowling Tournament 2022, currently being played at Funland Centre’s lanes. Al Towareb had a red-hot trial of 778 pins to spearhead all participants in Group A, while Al Goud scored 667 to lead all bowlers in Group B for the day.
Competitors in the tournament are divided into two groups, with Group A for advanced bowlers and Group B for beginners and ladies. Contestants from both groups in this first phase attempt trials as much as they need, with the total pinfalls including handicap for their best three trials being considered. Each trial is composed of three games.
The qualifying round ends tonight, with bowlers ranked first and second from Groups A and B will advance directly to round three. Bowlers in third through 16th from each group will play in round two. Al Towareb posted the top score in Group A for the second day in a row with his 778 series.
It was his best of the competition, adding to his other top scores of 740 and 688. Al Towareb improved his total to 2,206 for a 245.1 average as he climbed to fifth on the Group A standings. Emerson Gotencio from the Philippines was still in the lead with his 2,283 total and 253.7 average, closely followed by Bahraini talent Abdulla Abdulkarim with a 2,265 total and 251.7 average.
His countryman and national team star Yousef Falah remained third with his 2,217 total and 246.3 average, while Al Towareb’s fellow-Saudi Abdulrahman Al Kheliwi was fourth just a single pin ahead of Al Towareb on a 2,207 total and 245.2 average. Ali Al Mass (2,145, 238.3) was sixth, Prince Mohammed bin Sultan bin Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (2,144, 238.2) of Saudi was seventh, and Ahmed Al Khaja (2,132, 236.9) eighth.
Others in the top 16 heading into today’s final day of qualifying were Ahmed Al Goud, Ahmed Fareed, Essa Taqi, JM Villanueva, Ziyad Al Kheliwi, Mohammed Mureed, Isa Khalid and Sultan Al Masri. Meanwhile, Al Goud’s 667 score was his top mark in qualifying and it improved his total to 1,905 for a 211.7 average.
His two other best series were 643 and 595. Al Goud went to seventh on the Group B standings. Dexter De Asis remained in first place with a 2,019 total and a 224.3 average. Khalid Sameer and De Asis’s fellow-Filipino bowler Euly Salcedo followed, sharing similar 2,005 totals and 222.8 averages. Sami Saloom was fourth with a 1,975 total and 219.4 average, with Ahmed Al Ansari in fifth on a 1,964 total and 218.2 average. The Group B top eight was rounded off by Isa Akbari (1,933, 214.8), Al Goud and Ronald Seralvo (1,893, 210.3) from the Philippines.
The rest of the leading 16 in Group B were Mohammed Daraj, Abdulaziz Al Zayani, Abdulrahman Al Humaidan, Waleed Daraj, Abdulrahman Al Ali, Ziyad Al Awadhi, Shaker Daraj and Eman Adel. The Funland Ramadan Bowling Tournament 2022 is being held in memory of the Late Murtadha Qudrat Rasti, the Late Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, and the Late Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Khalifa.
