Abdulkarim crowned champion of Funland Ramadan bowling

Abdulla Abdulkarim was crowned champion of the Funland Ramadan Bowling Tournament 2022, which has come to a close at Funland Centre’s lanes following an exciting night of action on its last day. Abdulkarim clinched the title after defeating fellow-Bahrain international bowler Yousef Falah 227-196 in the single-game final.

Following the championship-decider, Abdulkarim, Falah and the tournament’s other top-placers were presented their respective prizes in an awarding ceremony attended by Funland Centre chairman Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Bahrain Volleyball Association president Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, VIP guest Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Bahrain Bowling Association president Ghazi Abdulla Nass, Funland general manager Adel Rasti, and other officials.

The Funland Ramadan Bowling Tournament 2022 was held in memory of the Late Murtadha Qudrat Rasti, the Late Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, and the Late Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Khalifa. It attracted players from all over the world, including the U.S., the U.K., the Philippines, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

Abdulkarim and Falah needed to battle through a couple of highly competitive knockout rounds prior to meeting in the final. They first won their match-ups in the round of 16, where Abdulkarim defeated Abdulaziz Al Zayani 256-192 to make it through to the quarter-finals, and Falah beat Ahmed Al Ansari 246- 201 to move on.

Also going through were Emerson Gotencio, who beat Ronald Seralvo 236-172, Sultan Al Masri who defeated Hussain Busheri 194-179, Abdulrahman Al Kheliwi who beat Shaker Daraj 258- 204, Ali Al Mass who beat Waleed Daraj 224-206, Ziyad Al Kheliwi who overcame Khalid Sameer 217-194, and Adel Barqi who beat Dexter De Asis 234-182. In the quarters, Abdulkarim was paired up against Al Mass and he won their single game clash 227-212. Falah was also a winner, overcoming Gotencio 246-172.

Al Masri defeated Ziyad Al Kheliwi 266-236 to make it to the semi-finals, as did Barqi, who beat Abdulrahman Al Kheliwi 246-180. In the last four, Abdulkarim played an impressive 260 against Al Masri, who managed a score of 224 in a losing effort. Falah secured his place against Abdulkarim in the final after beating Barqi by just eight pins, 233-225.

That set the stage for the thrilling title-decider between the two Bahraini tenpin bowling stars, and Abdulkarim was able to come away with the victory. Following the result, Abdulkarim not only took home the champion’s trophy, he also came away with BD1,200 in prize money for first place. Falah claimed BD600 as the runner-up, while all bowlers in the top 16 also came away with prize money
