Bahrain champions Riffa kicked off their training in Kuwait ahead of their Group B campaign in the AFC Cup 2022, which kicks off on Wednesday.

Their practice was held at Thamir Stadium in Kuwait’s Salmiya Club, supervised by head coach Ali Ashoor. The team also conducted a technical meeting in their hotel to discuss tactics in their upcoming matches.

Riffa are in Group B of this year’s AFC Cup group stage, alongside Shabab Al Khalil of Palestine, Dhofar of Oman and Al Arabi SC of Kuwait. Their group’s games are being played in Kuwait City.

Their opener on Wednesday will be against Arabi. They then play Dhofar on Saturday, before completing the group stage against Shabab Al Khalil on the 24th. Riffa need to finish atop their group or be the best runner-up from the West Asia Zone to advance to the next round of the competition.

There are three groups in all in West Asia. Fellow-Bahraini side East Riffa are competing in Group C—which will be hosted in Bahrain—with Tishreen from Syria, Nejmeh and Hilal Al Quds from Palestine.

East Riffa first face Nejmeh on Wednesday, then take on Tishreen on Saturday. They then close out their group campaign against Hilal Al Quds. Group A consists of Ansar, Al Seeb of Oman, Jableh from Syria and Kuwait SC.
