Landa claims impressive fourth in Giro d’Italia ninth stage

Team Bahrain Victorious rider Mikel Landa narrowly missed out on a podium finish yesterday in the ninth stage of the prestigious Giro d’Italia. Landa clinched an impressive fourth place overall at the end of the 191-kilometre leg, finishing amongst the leading group on the final sprint. With his impressive showing yesterday, Landa was able to move up to seventh on the General Classification, just 29 seconds behind leader Juan Pedro Lopez of Trek-Segafredo.
Bahrain Victorious teammate Pello Bilbao is also in the top 10, in 10th overall. Amongst other team members after the ninth stage, Wouter Poels is fifth in the Mountains classification, Santiago Buitrago is seventh in the Young Rider classification, and Bahrain Victorious moved up to second in the Teams classification, now behind only Bora-Hansgrohe. Today is a rest day, and action continues tomorrow with stage 10 from Pescara to Jesi, covering 196km in all.
Meanwhile, Edoardo Zambanini finished fourth overall on the final General Classification for the 2022 Tour de Hongrie, which concluded yesterday with the fifth and last stage. He was the only Bahrain Victorious rider to feature amongst the positions in the final classifications at the end of the race.
