Bahrain-Japan tennis event held

The Bahrain-Japan Tennis Championship, organised by the Bahrain Tennis Federation (BTF), was held at Riffa Tennis Club (RTC) to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two friendly countries.
The event was held in the presence and participation of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Political Affairs Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, and Japanese Ambassador to Bahrain Masayuki Miyamoto.
It was sponsored by the BTF. This was a one-day friendly championship where all matches were played on RTC courts. The matches were held in the doubles system between Bahraini and Japanese players. In the final, the Bahraini tandem of Youssef Akbar and Abdullah Reda beat Japan’s Nyato and Iwasaki.
At the end of the competition, Dr Shaikh Abdulla and Ambassador Miyamoto crowned the winners while RTC presented special souvenir shields to Dr Shaikh Abdulla and Ambassador Miyamoto.
