Bahraini-British motor racing team 2 Seas Motorsport are continuing their in-season testing programme as they gear up for their next round of competition in Europe. The world-class outfit, co-owned by talented Bahraini racer His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, have been testing at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya this week. The team’s objectives in the sessions are to gain mileage, experience and knowledge as they take to the tarmac for every lap.

2 Seas are gearing up for their next competitive appearance later this month, which will be at the world-famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium for the next round of the Intelligent Money British GT Championship. The meeting is set to be the season’s only round being held outside of the UK. 2 Seas have had an impressive campaign so far in the British GT Championship. They are currently sixth on the GT3 Teams Championship standings with 57 points, while their main drivers James Cottingham and Lewis Williamson are tied-seventh on the GT3 Drivers Championship table with 57 points apiece.

Similarly, Cottingham and Williamson are also tied-seventh in the GT3 Pro-Am standings with 64 points each. There are three races remaining on the 2022 British GT calendar, starting with the Spa event scheduled to be held on July 23 and 24. The penultimate round of the season will take place at Brands Hatch in the UK on September 10 and 11, while the finale will be at Donington Park, also in the UK, on October 15 and 16. 2 Seas enjoyed a strong showing in the previous meeting, held at Snetterton late last month.

There, they had a two-car entry and both cars were able to climb onto the podium. The pairing of lady driver Flick Haigh and Jonny Adam, behind the wheel of 2 Seas’ #75 Mercedes-AMG GT3 car, took third overall in the weekend’s second of two races, while they also clinched second place in the Pro-Am class.

Meanwhile, teammates Cottingham and Williamson, who are 2 Seas’ regulars driving the #4 Mercedes-AMG GT3, claimed a Pro-Am podium in the first race after finishing third in class. 2 Seas co-owner Nick Cristofaro commented after the round: Overall, it was a really strong performance by the whole team over the entire weekend, but we just had two minor things which made a big difference, unfortunately.

“James showed fantastic pace during every session and throughout the races alongside Lewis, especially the second one to recover back up to P7. It was also great to see how strong Flick and Jonny were running, and their potential just keeps getting stronger with the more time they have in the car. “Things are moving in the right direction, and the team did a great job all weekend. Next up is Spa, and we are pushing to be back at the front again.”
