10,000 Bahraini youngsters to get top swimming training

The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) and Bahrain Swimming Association (BSA) yesterday signed a cooperation agreement to train 10,000 youth, both boys and girls, in the sport within a one-year period. The deal was signed by BOC secretary general Faris Al Kooheji and BSA chairman Dr Mohammed Mujbel.
The agreement is part of the BOC’s keenness to adopt various initiatives and programmes aimed at improving all sports across the Kingdom. Al Kooheji expressed his delight in signing the pact, which he said is in line with the vision of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority president and BOC chief His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
He added that swimming is one of the most popular sports at the Olympic Games, and stressed that training the Kingdom’s youth will contribute to discovering a number of talents capable of representing the national team in the future. Dr Mujbel thanked HH Shaikh Khalid for his unlimited support to the BSA and said that the programme will have a positive impact on the sport of swimming in Bahrain.
