Bahrain’s senior men’s national volleyball team have departed for Bangkok, where they will hold their final preparations ahead of their debut participation in the prestigious AVC Cup for Men—one of the premier competitions held under the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC).

The 2022 tournament is scheduled to take place between August 7 and 14 at the Thai capital, where the nationals are set to complete their training.

The Bahrainis travelled with a 14-player squad, coached by Brazilian tactician Issanaye Ramires.“The challenge will be huge,” Coach Ramires posted on social media.

“We will fight hard to represent Bahrain with a lot of determination and desire to overcome ourselves so that we are ready for the opportunities that this competition will present us.”

Bahrain are one of 12 teams taking part in this year’s AVC Cup for Men. The others are Australia, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, hosts Thailand, fellow-debutants Pakistan and defending champions Qatar.

Prior to their departure, the senior nationals were visited at their local training by Bahrain Olympic Committee secretary general Faris Al Kooheji, who was accompanied by Bahrain Volleyball Association (BVA) secretary general Feras Al Halwachi and other BVA officials.
