Bahrain paddlers defeat Saudi in West Asian table tennis

Bahrain’s national table tennis teams have so far excelled at this year’s West Asian Table Tennis Championships, currently being held in Jordan. Their participation has been highlighted by the senior men’s team topping their group following an exciting 3-2 victory over Saudi Arabia.
After splitting the first four contests 2-2, Bahrain’s Elias Al Yasi managed to win the fifth and final clash 3-0 against Saudi’s Abdulaziz Boushelbi to secure the final result. It was an important win for the Bahrainis, as the Saudis are the defending West Asian and Gulf champions.
Elsewhere in the championships, the under-11 team qualified for the semi-finals where they will face off with the UAE, while the under-19 side defeated Saudi 3-1 in their match. Bahrain is competing in the West Asian event with 21 paddlers across the various age-categories.
They include Al Yasi, Mohammed Abbas, Rashid Sanad, Murtadha Hussain, Salman Mohammed, Ali Abbas, Hussain Hassan, Fadhel Abbas, Mohammed Nader, Majid Naji, Majid Osama, Hussain Busafwan, Hadi Hussain, Hassan Ibrahim, Nasser Alawi, Ali Yousef, Maryam Al Aali, Amruta Amit, Fatima Al Aali, Dana Al Khayyat and Rayan Imad.
The competition is scheduled to continue until Sunday. It has been organised and is run by the West Asian Table Tennis Federation in cooperation with its Jordanian counterpart.
