Up-and-coming Bahrain-based driver Lewis Smith will be back in action this weekend in the IAME Euro Series 2022 at Karting Genk track in Belgium.

The meeting is Lewis’s third and final event in Europe this summer, having previously also competed in a pair of IAME championships, both also in Genk, where he put in a couple of strong performances.

Lewis will be racing in the event’s X30 Senior category amongst a large field of competitors hailing from all over the world. The 16-year-old Briton will be up against talents from Belgium, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Poland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, and his countrymen from the UK, to name a few.

Lewis is looking forward to taking on the challenge at hand and showcasing his limitless potential to the global karting community.

“This weekend’s races in the IAME Euro Series are set to be the highlight of my summer in Europe,” said Lewis from Genk. “My previous round last week in the IAME Series Benelux went well, but I had a lot of bad luck with issues both on and off the track.

“It was still a very valuable learning experience and there were a lot of really talented drivers, so I was able to get the most out of the weekend.

“This time, we will be racing over four days, which will be a physical challenge in itself. There will be a lot of track time and I’m sure plenty of great battles, and I’m excited to get things going.

“I’m hoping to wrap up my summer in Europe on a high note and I’ll be giving all I have to bring home some positive results.” Action gets underway on track on Thursday with practices.

On Friday, non-qualifying practice will be held, followed by time qualifying and qualifying heats. The qualifying heats continue on Saturday, which will then set the stage for the super heats and finals on Sunday.

This weekend’s meeting marks the fourth and final round of the IAME Euro Series’ 2022 calendar. The previous three rounds were held at Zuera in Spain, Mariembourg in Belgium and at Castelletto in Italy.

As one of up-and-coming young karters who has been honing his skills in Bahrain, Lewis regularly competes in national, regional and international championships and continues to excel at all levels.

Lewis is regularly looking for support from Bahrain companies for sponsorship opportunities, which would offer exposure all across Europe and within the Kingdom of Bahrain.
