Bahrain have been drawn with India for their round-of-12 playoff match in the 21st Asian Men’s U20 Volleyball Championship, currently being hosted by the Kingdom at Isa Sports City in Riffa.

That game is scheduled to be the headlining contest today and it is scheduled for a 7pm start at the Bahrain Volleyball Association’s Isa bin Rashid Arena.

The winner of the game will gain an automatic berth in the semi-finals as per the tournament’s unique knockout system, implemented by the Asian Volleyball Confederation.

In another fixture today, defending champions Iran will be taking on Saudi Arabia in a game that will also earn the victor a direct ticket to the last four. Their contest is scheduled for a 2pm start at the Bahrain Table Tennis Association Arena.

There will be four other matches in the round-of-12 playoffs today and one game in the 13th-to-17th classification bracket between Australia and Kuwait. The other teams in the round-of-12 playoffs are South Korea, Qatar, Thailand, the UAE, Bangladesh, Iraq, China and Pakistan.

The other sides in the 13th to 17th classification are Hong Kong, Japan and Chinese-Taipei. In the playoffs, the other teams will need to win two matches to earn their berths in the semis, as per the tournament system.

All are welcome to attend the games. Entrance is free to both arenas at Isa Sports City. Bahrain head into their contest having won both their games in Pool A of the preliminary round. The nationals are playing in the tournament with a 12-player squad, coached by Sabeur Abdulwahed.

The roster includes team captain Husain Ehsan, Ridha Matrook, Ali Albosta, Hasan Warqa, Sayed Hashem Ali, Ali Abdulwahab, Ali Alarab, Sadeq Marhoon, Sayed Ahmed Ali, Husain Ramadhan, Hasan Alaiwi and Abbas Ehsan. India, on the other hand, won their match against Japan and then lost to Iran, but were still able to march through.
