Bahrain Club surge late in win over Al Hala

Bahrain Club posted a late 60-47 win over Al Hala last night as the first week of action in the 2022/2023 Zain Bahrain Basketball League continued at Zain Basketball Arena in Um Al Hassam. Bahrain Club used a decisive 10-0 run to turn a 46-all deadlock with under seven minutes to go to a commanding double-digit lead and only half-aminute remaining. Hala managed just one point after that rally, sealing the result for their rivals. Ali Abbas scored 11 points off the bench to pace Bahrain Club in the game. He was their only player in double figures, as Hasan Gerashi scored nine against his former team while Wayne Chism and Ali Asghar each finished with eight points. Chism also grabbed 18 rebounds in the win.

For Hala, Nigel Spikes had 16 points and a game-high 25 rebounds. Ahmed Khalifa chipped in with 10 points in the loss. In yesterday’s other game, Isa Town outclassed Sitra 93- 72. Isa Town took a commanding 30-15 lead at the end of the first quarter, and then finished strong after outscoring Sitra 23-10 in the final period. Omar Barry had 31 points and 17 rebounds to spearhead Isa Town, who led by as many as 22 points in the game. Talal Qaheri added 17 and Habib Sami chipped in with 13. Mahdi Abdulameer scored 25 for Sitra in their loss. Tonight, the first week of league action wraps up with Muharraq taking on Nuwaidrat at 7.30pm.
